4-2 Update
Yesterday was a pretty relaxing day. The only thing we had to do was review some paperwork with Holt, which took about 45 minutes. After that, we went for a walk and took some laundry to one of the many places around the hotel that do laundry. Almost all the American families that adopt stay here, so there are many stores that cater to adoptive families, including selling many items and doing laundry (much cheaper than the hotel). We borrowed a stroller from the Holt office (others who have left leave things there for the new families) so that we could save my back and Steve's shoulders. We figure Katherine ways about 43 pounds, so she is no lighweight to carry.
We took a short nap after lunch (Katherine and I). I was not feeling really well - I think the traveling finally caught up, a bit of the travelers sickness, if you know what I mean. Xiao Ting had it the day before. During the nap, Steve and Sarah did a bit of shopping. We are trying to buy one item for Katherine for each birthday through her 18th. Some are just small items, others are a bit nicer. We still have a few more we need to buy.
After the nap, we sort of went swimming. By that I mean the pool is outside and while the air was warm enough, the water was freezing. It didn't bother Katherine, who floated around in the shallow end. Steve and I were chicken and only went in up to our knees. Sarah finally jumped in and swam at the end.
We went to dinner with our friends the Bergquists at a Cantonese place. The food was good, but their son and Katherine had ants in their pants, so it was kind of hard to eat.
Katherine and I put our PJ's on and sort of watched a DVD (I have stories in Chineses with English subtitles - we watched Puss and Boots) while Steve and Sarah went to the game room.
Sarah was not feeling good and got sick when she got back, I think she just ate too much and maybe is tired, too.
Today we take Katherine Xiao Ting for a medical exam (part of the process). Later, Kathy Bergquist and I will be getting foot and shoulder massages (I think the mom's deserve it!!). That's all we have on the agenda for today. I think we will be eating light today, as Sarah and I still don't feel real great.
I know Sarah and I are homesick - Steve is ok. Tempurature here is supposed to be 84 for the next few days. While I can't wait to get home, I am not looking forward to the long plane ride home with Katherine. She does not have much of an attention span, so it will seem like a really long flight.
Keep praying for good health and safe travels.
God Bless,
Marie
