4-3 and 4-4 updates

Yesterday we went for Xiao's medical exam. It was pretty quick - a quick check of the ears, nose, throat, body, height (100 cm), weight (18 kg). As she is older, she also had to do a quick eye exam. She had to point hand up or down. She did great. She didn't do well on the color one as she didn't know circle or triangle.

After that, we did some shopping and then ate a snack in the room. We decided no nap for Katherine, as she always has plenty of energy. At 3, Sarah, Kathy and I went for foot and shoulder massages. It was really the first time I left Xiao. I said bye in the room and she understood I was going and started to cry. It broke my heart. But I went anyway. I figured she needs to learn that I will leave and come back. And, I really needed a break. I've been pretty much 24 X 7 with her, including having to wake her up around 2 a.m. every night for potty. Steve said she cried pretty hard for about 10 minutes and then they goofed around and were fine, so it was good lesson.

The massages were great. They did the whole back and then legs up to the knees and feets. They soak your feet in medicated hot water and give you tea and pears to eat and drink during the massage. And it is really cheap. About $6 for about 45 minutes !!

We then went to the playground, out to dinner and then time for bed.

Today was a free day. We went to a Buddist temple. We were blessed by the monk. We then stopped at an amusement park. They had kiddie rides like the marry go round, flying bees, trains. Sarah was a nice big sis and rode the kiddie rides with her. We were like movie stars at the playground. There were a whole bunch of school kids there and they kept coming up to us to say "Hello" and "How are you?". We were the only westerners there. They kept following us around like the Pied Piper.

It was very hot and humid, so we went swimming. The water was cold but felt good.

We joined the Bergquists for dinner and then took a boat ride on the Pearl River. All the buildings were lit up and it was really nice.

We are now fighting to get her to bed. She is crying because we took something away. I also made her cry earlier today when she ran away from me like it was a game and I finally caught her and then yelled at her sternly so she would know she can't run away like that. She was mad at me for about 1/2 hour. All these tests she has for us. We hope it gets better.

Well, time to go, she is really crying.

Tomorrow is our last day here. We have to meet with Holt at 10 a.m. to review our return trip and then at 2:30 we go the the U.S.Consulate to get her VISA and do a swearing in. Then time to pack up for the very long plane trips on Thursday, 4/6.

Keep praying, we can feel your prayers over here.

God Bless,
Marie
