9-14 Update

I haven't updated in awhile. We've been really busy. Katherine is doing very well. We decided not to have her go to Kindergarten. She is catching on well, but is behind where a typical kindergartener would be. Given that, we were worried about daycare, as we returned to work after Labor day. However, our wonderful neighbor, Becky, offered to watch Katherine. This is Haley's Mom. Haley is Katherine's friend from across the street. She is 4 1/2 and they have been good buds all summer. Katherine is also going to K4 three mornings a week with Haley at her Grandpa's church in Menomonee Falls. So it is working out so nicely. The class is small (only 4 girls including Haley and Katherine). She seems to like school.

We took Katherine to Children's Cranio Facial clinicl at the beginning of August. She saw the speech therapist, dentist specialist, ENT and plastic surgeon. They were all amazed at how she looked and how good the surgeries were. The speech therapist was very impressed with her progress considering she was only home 5 months. She couldn't believe how well she was doing. In fact, she saw no need for speech therapy from a cleft palate perspective. We are working with the school district to see if she qualifies from a language acquisition perspective.

Sarah is doing well. We are all adjusting to having a fourth person around and she and Katherine have a love/hate relationship. I'm told that is typical of siblings - we just don't have that experience to know what is normal. They get along ok sometimes and then really get on each others nerves at other times. We are all trying to adjust.

Now that school has started and we are all a bit stressed out. Lot of activities going on and paperwork for school, etc. Sarah and Katherine are both in soccer and Wed. nights are crazy, but we knew that was bound to happen. We just need to get back to the busy mode. The summer was so relaxing and with one of us off, we could at least get some of the housework done, etc. Well, back to reality.

Hope to post some pics soon...
