We got our travel approval !!

We are going to China, and a lot sooner than we thought!! We had wanted to plan the trip around Sarah’s Easter break, however, there is a huge trade fair in Guangzhou April 14th - April 30th. Since that is the last stop on the trip (that is where the American Consulate is and where we get all the final paperwork for Katherine XiaoTing), we have to go so that we are in Guangzhou before then or would have to wait until May. So, we will be leaving in 2-3 weeks. We don’t know the dates yet – we are waiting to hear from Holt as to when we need to meet in Beijing. Our trip goes something like this – leave for Beijing (we would like to arrive a few days early and do some touring), so leaving either the 13th-14th or 20th -21st. Meet with Holt on either the 17th or 24th. Leave for Urumqi (pronounced Woolumoochi) on either the 19th or 26th. That is the city where we will meet Katherine XiaoTing, probably on that Monday or Tuesday. Stay there for about a week. Then fly to Guangzhau for our consulate appointment. May be there a few days to five days, depending.
I will try to keep our blog updated from China, thought I won’t promise to check every day

Just a tip on keeping your blog up in China. One of the families from our travel group (last year this time) tried but it took a long time to get it posted. Another good way to keep family and friends posted is to send email. I had my sister be our go to emailer for us. Before we left I sent her an email copying all the people we wanted to keep updated. While in China, I sent my emails to her and she forwarded them to the contact list. It made it easy for us and I was able to include my sister, who lives in Florida. Sometimes she is dissappointed not to be able to help out. This was a way for her to be included from afar. Just a thought.
